Admission details of Special class railway apprentice conducted by Union Public Service Commission

‘Special Class Railway Apprentice’ is conducted for the posts of junior officers in mechanical engineering division of Indian Railway Services. This exam will be conducted under the supervision of UPSC. Candidates who have completed intermediate or +12 with MPC subjects are eligible for appearing to this exam. Age should be below 21 years. There is an exception in age limit for the reserved category candidates. Test has to be compulsorily taken in English. Test will be conducted in two categories. Part- 1 will be written test, three papers will be there each of 200 marks. Paper-1 is general ability test and it will contain questions on English, general knowledge and psychology. Paper-2 is physical science and it contains questions on physics and chemistry. Paper-3 contains questions on mathematics.

Question paper will be in the standard of intermediate. Questions have to be answered carefully since there is negative marking. Part-2 will be conducted for those who get qualified in Part-1. After that, academic record, extra curricular activities, communication, leadership skills and others will be considered. Selected candidates need to do apprentice for four years in Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers in Jamaalpur of Bihar. For more details, visit www.upsc.gov.in
