GATE for Life sciences Admissions
Many students are in the impression that the Gate examination pertains to Engineering branches only. The candidates who are interested to get admission in Higher courses of Biological science (Life science), Chemical Sciences, Mathematics, Physical Science, they have to attend compulsory for the Gate examination. Based on the Gate score, only the candidate can obtain a seat in M.Tech (Bio-technology).
For Bio-technology paper, the candidates of B.Tech (Bio-technology) M.Sc, Life science candidates are eligible They can also try to get Ph.d seat in the important organizations.
CHANGES IN BI-TECHNOLOGY PAPER
In this year Gate, in Bio-Technology Syllabus some changes are occurred. Mathematics Syllabus was added newly. Linear, Algebra, Calculus, Differential Equations, Probability parts are included. As such Bio-Technology candidates should concentrate on Mathematics.
Recombinant DNA Technology, Bio-informatics, Immunology, Molecular Biology, and Genetics subject several questions may be asked
CHMISTRY IS COMPULSORY
Gate Life Sciences candidates, should select any two questions from Botany, Bio-chemistry, Micro-Biology, Zoology options. In addition to these questions, the Chemistry is compulsory and 25 marks weight age is available. In the Syllabus of Chemistry, Chemical Bonding, Co-ordination chemistry, Organic Reactions, Mechanism, Stereo Chemistry, Chemical, Kinetics, Thermodynamics, Electro Chemistry number questions may be given in he examination.
If the candidate is selected Micro-biology option the candidates should concentrate General micro-biology, Microbial, Genetics, Microbial Ecology subjects.
If the candidate is selected Bio-Chemistry option, they have to concentrate on the subjects related to Immunology, RDNA Technology, Bio-Molecules, Proteins, Enzymes, Molecular-biology, and Carbohydrate Metabolism.
Based on their Gate score the Candidates of M.Sc, Life-sciences, can apply to the organizations of CCMB, IISC. IIT. HCU, for their admission in PHD courses.
The candidates of chemical sciences may apply to the IISC, IICT, IIT, NCAL, Pune HCU, organizations for their admission in PHD courses.
In view of negative marks the candidates should attempt only known questions. The candidates must concentrate on each subject, and they have read in interest mood and try to understand the subjects. The candidates must practice the previous question paper. The candidates who are attending basic science examination, they have to see the

hello, my gate percentile (life sciences) is 82.67 and i got 39.67 out of 100,but minimum marks should be 40.16 for assistantship governed by MHRD,GOI. can i apply with this score for phd anywhere? plz reply
