Indian Police Service  | Selection procedure and details of Civil Service exam for joining Indian Police Service (IPS)

Writing Civil Service Exam held by Union Public Service commission is compulsory to join Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service or Indian Foreign Service. Exam is held in three stages that are Prelims, mains and interview.  Candidate who gets through all these stages is selected for the service.  Physical strength of the candidate who is going for IPS is also tested.  Notification is going to be released in one or two months.  Graduates are eligible to write the Civil Services Exam.  The age limit of the candidate is 21 to 30 years at the time of writing the exam.  Selected candidates will be allotted to various states depending on the vacancies and ranks.   Almost every capital of state has the exam center.  For complete details log on to www. upsc.gov.in.
