Study of Universe, its nature, motion laws and other effects is astronomy. With the advent of modern technology, it has turned into a new branch. Aryabhatta, Bhaskara, Galileo, Newton and others have done research in this field only. There are specializations like astro physics, astro materiology, astro biology, astro geology and astro metry in astronomy.

Admission into astronomy courses can be got through EE exam. For higher studies, maths and physics in degree is necessary. Joint astronomy program is offered by Indian institute of Science, Bengaluru. Admission into this course will be on the basis of the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST). After a year training the candidates can do Ph.D in the subjects of their choice in different famous institution across the country.
