The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA)

The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) is the national body of Architects in the country. Having started in the year 1917, the institute today has more than 15000 members. The Institute has a major role to play in promoting the profession of architecture by organising and uniting in fellowship the Architects of India to promote aesthetic, scientific and practical efficiency of the profession both in Practice and in Education

The Indian Institute of Architects holds examinations  for eligible candidates twice a year  to qualify for an election as Associate  Member of the Institute This Examination, which is managed, conducted and regulated by the Board of Examinations (BOE) is a contribution towards the emerging field of Non-Formal Technical Education.

An Associate  of the Indian Institute of Architects (AIIA), by passing such examination, becomes eligible for registration with the  Council of  Architecture (COA), established under  the Architects Act 1972.

However, such registration with COA will remain in force till the candidate continues his / her Associate membership / Fellow membership with The Indian Institute of Architects by paying subscription of the Institute on time.
