The Institution Of Mechanical Engineers (India) is one of the oldest professional institutions in India established in 1914 to promote, advance and update knowledge, business & practice of mechanical engineering professionals.
Passing of Section A & Section B of Associate Membership (also known as Chartered Engineers) Examination is recognized by many Universities, the five I.I.T.s & also Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore for admission to Post Graduate courses, subject to passing GATE examination. These examinations are also recognized by U.P.S.C. for admission to Engineering Service Examination.
Section A:
A Pass in Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Government Polytechnic with 6 months work experience in Engineering field either as Trainee or Employee or a final pass in T. Eng. Part-II examination of Institution and who have 3½ year Engineering work experience.
Section B:
A Pass in Section-A examination of the institution or equivalent qualification with Engineering work experience
Candidates after obtaining a final pass in the Section- A Examination will become eligible for enrolment to section – B of the Associate Membership Examination after one year from the last Section – A Examination, in which such candidates have obtained final pass.
Degree Level Examination:
The Institution conducts Section-A & Section-B of the Associate Membership (also known as Chartered Engineers) examination in mechanical engineering.
In addition to 8 compulsory subjects, Section – B students are required to appear and pass in 3 optional subjects
