UK student Visa process

To get a UK student visa, the candidates has to apply under ‘Tier-4 Students Category’ of New Points Based System. This method is being implemented from 31^st March, 2009. A student should obtain a total of 40 points to get UK student visa.

• UK student visa application form is VAF9
• Visa application fee is 255 pounds
• Students have to take the visa letter issued by UK University or institution after the admission is confirmed and fee is paid.
• Students who are going to study in UK should show proof of funds other than tuition fees to live in UK.
• The funds should be in the account at least 28 days as on the date of the visa application.
• Nearly fifteen documents have to be submitted for UK student visa.
• Students can directly go to regional VFS UK local office and apply for visa. They can take the appointment through mail.
• If the visa application is complete in all aspects, the procedure of visa completed within 7 – 15 days.
• Students may have to appear for a personal interview if called for by the officials. The UK student visa will then be issued only after the interview.

Required documents for UK student visa

1. VAF 9 + Appendix 8 form , Guidance notes
2. Passport
3. One passport size color photo which is not older than six months
4. Biometric details of the student
5. Visa fee 255 pounds in rupees in the form of DD
6. CAS letter from the UK University. All documents for UK student visa should be submitted in original and photo copies also.
7. No-objection certificate from university
8. ATAS certificate if required
9. Accommodation and tuition fee payment receipts
10. Bank statements of last 28 days from sponsors in original
11. Mark sheets from tenth class to latest course done
12. Affidavit of support issued by sponsor should also be submitted. This should be on a non-judicial stamp paper of value Rs. 20
13. Work experience certificates
14. Fixed deposit receipts
15. Bank loan issue letter

Recently UK government has banned 1900 banks in India. It has decided not to accept the financial statements issued by these banks for UK student visa. Bank transactions from only 85 banks in India will be accepted in Britain. Financial statements of National banks which have private banking transaction with Britain, National and state banks, which have core banking services, will only be considered for UK student visa.
